Dinner Switch
We had orange chicken instead of shrimp for dinner tonight. Mainly because my shrimp didn’t defrost early on enough. I managed to get three movies recorded, the final one was Rio Lobo with John Wayne. Hey, you can never have too many classics, you know?
This week is the beginning of “re-run” summer. This sad state of affairs will run until mid-September..boring! I wish we could just turn off of our satellite until that time, I hate paying for nothing! Well, that’s not quite true, the History Channel usually has something showing that’s pretty interesting. Other than that…forget it.
P has just declared it’s Wednesday, therefore it must be “bath night” for the fur babies. Always a good thing. I also found a spinning guild to visit tomorrow night! Yay. I’m finally biting the bullet and am going to learn to spin my own yarn. It’s one evening a month to meet together and it’s a good skill to know if your a knitter. A small bird told me that a spinning wheel might be coming my direction before year’s end. Yippee! I had wanted to learn to spin back in ‘05 but it got put off due to moving to Portland. Now, I can get back on track with it.
I have a hand spindle that I’m going to give a try with tonight. I’m extremely nervous about it, but hey, I have to start sometime, right? My pall over at Knitted Specks has been a huge help, she is an unending fount of spinning knowledge! Besides knitting and spinning, she is planning on growing her own fiber! LOL Yes, she is quite industrious.
So, now I’m off to get the hand spindle out and give it a whirl (no pun intended!).
An interesting morning to say the least.
Imagine my surprise this morning to find a strange man standing in my bedroom! Well, not quite in, at the doorway of it. Maggie and Templar were not too thrilled at him being there. Of course, Templar being Templar tried to lick him to death at one point.
I knew our apartment was schedule for fiber optic installation today. I also knew it involved our living room, which is on the first floor. I also knew the hours were between 8am and 6pm today. There was nothing mentioned about my bedroom close though. After my initial shock, he did go back downstairs till I got up and dressed.
Other than that rude awakening, the day is actually a lovely day. It’s sunny and warm, one of those not a cloud within visible range days. I’m recording a few movies off the tivo today. One was a John Wayne movie “El Dorado” and now I’m recording the original uncut version of MASH. I have never seen it uncut before, so it’s kind of interesting. Put’s a whole new slant on the television series.
Tonight, we are having shrimp and pasta and something extra? Not sure what the extra is, but I’m sure I will think of something.
After my movie is done, I think I’ll go outside, have some lunch and read or knit a bit. Maybe let the fur babies have some outside time on their paws.
My kind of guy!
Man Makes Two Calls From Top Of Mt. Everest | geeksugar – Technology, Gadgets, & How Tos.
Apparently, you can actually call from the top of mt. Everest, but yet still can’t make a call from halfway between Seaside Oregon and Portland Oregon? I just don’t get it?
There are parts of the world that you can’t get cellphone reception, but yet, no one believes it. I know of many places you can’t call from, but yet, when you tell someone you were out of range, they thing your just avoiding them. Pshaw….I say. Now, the above article will make it less likely to believe…nuts.
I do, however, love the idea you can call from the top of Mt. Everest, not that I will ever see it. I’m a “I’ll sit at base camp sipping martini’s while you risk life and limb”. After all, someone has to come back down to make sure you live in posterity.
