I have a new page!

I found the coolest thing online today.  You can create a map of where you have been in the world!  It rocks.  I had no idea there was so much more to see!!!!!  I can’t wait to travel again. Anyway, the link is at the top, click on the Where Have I Been and it will take you to the map!  Whoo Hoo!

Fashion is all in the beholder

Okay, it’s called Wardrobe Refashion and it’s the challenge I have taken up whole heartedly.  Problem is, I have few clothes to refashion.  I do, however, have tons of fabric to play with.

Tomorrow is “Notebook” Sunday.  I’m going to see how much batting I have and if I have enough, I’m making notebook sleeves for everyone in the house!  We all have notebooks and none of us have protective sleeves.  We have cases galore, but no sleeves to just store the little electronic babies in.

My notebook is very fashionable.  It sports only stickers that have meaning to them.  I think it definitely deserves a notebook sleeve.  I figure if I can cut one out, I can just go ahead and cut two more out.

I have no idea about pattern, I’m just going to measure everything and then make a pattern and cut the thing out.  Sounds easy enough.  Cut the basic shape, add an inch or so to accomodate the batting, cutting a second piece for lining. Stitch the batting to the wrong side of one of the pieces, then put the two outside pieces together, right sides facing, stitch it up, flip it inside out, press, fold and stitch…voila, notebook sleeve! I might get fancy and design a flap to use with velcro to secure it?  Who knows?  I’m sure I will think of something.

Next up with be the “perfect knitting bag” and a some pillow cases.  I’m thinking of making little felt appliques to stitch on them?  I’ve decided in my grand scheme of things to redo my bedroom.  We used to have a lovely red/gold theme going on it, but the somehow my fabulous comforter never made it here?  So, now the curtains clash with the current comforter?  My curtains are dark red and my comforter is a jaquard in a medium/light blue. Actually this comforter is over six years old.  I bought it back in 2o01.  It held up better than the newer one that has since disappeared.  It’s not like I missed it, it’s a king sized comforter…rather a large item!  Probably had it’s own box too.  Oh well,  I’ll make a new duvet cover for the comforter we have now and maybe some new curtains and new pillow cases to match.  I’m headed to Fabric Depot on Monday, I’ll just buy a bolt of something that I like and call it done!  I want something lighter and more “airy”, it’s too hot for dark colors right now.

Whew, that’s enough sewing talk for me for the evening.  Wow, it’s 12:19am?  Where did the evening go?
