Friday, six letters that mean so much to so many

Yep, it’s Friday. Have you ever thought about Friday, besides the obvious?  Why do we relish it so?  The whole western world hinges on this one day as the end to the work week, the beginning of the weekend, the start of something different.

Did you know that the word Friday actually comes from the word fridgedaeg, which was Old English for “the day of Frigge..the Germanic Goddess of Beauty?  So, who knew that Friday is really a day to honor beauty? In come calendars it’s the sixth day of the week and not the fifth?  Depends on if you see the week beginning on a Sunday or a Monday, sort of like is the glass half full or half empty.

Friday also gets a whole name instead of being known  just by it’s day.  It can be Casual Friday or Black Friday or even Good Friday.  It also has a bit of fun with people by every so often throwing off the title of Good Friday and becoming Friday the 13th!  Its rather famous, having been included in several artistic works such as “Freaky Friday (film)”, “Friday (film)”, “Friday on my Mind (song)”,”Friday, I’m in Love(song)”, and a novel by the name “Friday”.  In our house, it’s also known as Stargate Friday!

Friday is also a day of worship or the start of the day of worship in some religions. Hmm, it’s both a party day and a religious day?  Talk about having identity issues!

I’ve wondered if the other days of the week get jealous because Friday always gets so much attention? (yes, I do wonder about these things and no I don’t have to see a therapist)  With everything that Friday has going on, it’s no wonder it takes six days to recuperate from it’s day in the week.  I’m sure that the minute after 11:59pm on Friday’s day..Friday goes home, props up the feet and just relaxes.  That’s one hell of a schedule for anyone.

Now, as for me and Friday today.  We have quite a bit on our to-do list.

• hoovering
• steam cleaning
• moving furniture
• grocery shopping
• bill paying
• dog park-ing
• dog washing
• knitting

Yeah, Friday will definitely need a rest when I’m done with it this week.  Hey, I don’t need Friday until six days from now.

A Doggie Park, here? Really?

Oh, look. My city is looking to put in a doggie park!!!!!! Oh be still my heart! I just may have to write and thank them for just trying! It’s so hard to let dogs be dogs these days, there are so many rules and regulations about where they can go and how they can be there.

My fur babies love to run and romp, but it’s so hard to find places for them. A doggie park this is local would be ideal. I would never move from here, I swear! I love my babies and want only the best for them. I see a doggie park as the better because they get to socialize with other dogs.

Man Makes Two Calls From Top Of Mt. Everest | geeksugar – Technology, Gadgets, & How Tos.

Apparently, you can actually call from the top of mt. Everest, but yet still can’t make a call from halfway between Seaside Oregon and Portland Oregon?  I just don’t get it?

There are parts of the world that you can’t get cellphone reception, but yet, no one believes it.  I know of many places you can’t call from, but yet, when you tell someone you were out of range, they thing your just avoiding them.  Pshaw….I say.  Now, the above article will make it less likely to believe…nuts.

I do, however, love the idea you can call from the top of Mt. Everest, not that I will ever see it.  I’m a “I’ll sit at base camp sipping martini’s while you risk life and limb”.  After all, someone has to come back down to make sure you live in posterity.

Frustration at it’s finest!

I just finished working on the “knitted meme”…and lost the bloody thing!  Gah…I give up.  I have tried to do it twice now and each time it messed up.  I give up.
